Experience one of Australia’s most magical wildlife encounters on our guided Platypus Safari through the pristine rainforest waterways of Hidden Valley.Hidden Valley was recognised by Australian Geographic as one of the best places in Australia to spot platypus in the wild, offering guests an incredible opportunity to observe these elusive and iconic native mammals in their natural habitat.Running for approximately 90 minutes, this relaxed wildlife experience generally begins around 5:00 PM and continues through the calm evening hours until approximately 6:30 PM — one of the best times of day to observe platypus activity.Accompanied by our experienced guide, guests will quietly explore known platypus habitats while learning about:

Platypus behaviour and ecology

Rainforest waterways and ecosystems

Native wildlife of the region

Conservation and environmental significance

As this is a genuine wildlife experience, sightings can never be guaranteed. Factors such as weather conditions, water levels, seasonality, and natural wildlife behaviour all influence platypus activity. However, Hidden Valley has a highly successful platypus sighting rate, and our knowledgeable guides will always do their very best to maximise viewing opportunities during the experience. While platypus may occasionally be seen year-round, the ideal months for sightings are generally outside the wet season, particularly during: 🌿 June 🌿 July 🌿 August 🌿 September 🌿 OctoberWhether you’re a wildlife enthusiast, photographer, or simply looking for a truly unique Australian experience, the Platypus Safari is an unforgettable opportunity to connect with one of the country’s rarest and most fascinating creatures.
